Recent and future Agenda items -
comments to the secretary are welcomed
- NIFF are working to ensure that plans being made for Northampton and
West Northamptonshire take into account the needs of Faith groups, and the
essential contributions they must make for any future society to be healthy.
NIFF are making submissions to the relevant planning and commissioning authorities
(WNDC, NBC, WNJPU, etc.) and have pushed for a face-to-face meeting/conference.
This was promised for September 25th 2009, but has been postponed to the end
of February 2010. Sally Keeble MP, Churches Together in Northampton, NIFF
and others have submitted responses to the WNJPU and NBC consultation papers.
All have expressed regret at the total absence of any reference to Faith or
even to voluntary organisations/community groups in the consultation documents.
NIFF urges all planners/commissioners to acquaint themselves with the government
document FACE TO FACE AND SIDE BY SIDE.
- NIFF are working to put together a schools pack showing how faith perspectives
can contribute to shaping minds and hearts so that care for the environment
and all life is given high regard. All faiths have a common commitment to
care of, wise stewardship of, and respect for our environment. Each member
faith is being invited to contribute to the pack.
- The Secretary is exploring the possibility of NIFF achieving Trust Status.
- NIFF are collaborating with Northampton University to produce publicity
and display materials.
- NIFF member faiths are entitled to have four representatives as members
of the forum, thus ensuring there are always representatives of all faiths
present at meetings. Member faiths are being encouraged to ensure they have
their full complement; and there has been a welcome increase in the number
of representatives.
- NIFF has been working hard to put together a programme for Inter Faith
Week November 15-21 (see EVENTS page).
