Sunday 15th - An inter faith Mitzvah at the Mencap Centre, Far
Cotton
Gardening, tidying the grounds, cleaning and decorating by volunteers
form various faiths working together. A MItzvah is an act of kindness done for
no reward save that of knowing that in keeping with our faith we are fulfilling
our duty to serve our neighbours.

Monday 16th - At The Synagogue
The Northampton Hebrew Congregation were pleased
to host an evening in inter faith week. They provided opportunities to see how
a synagogue is set up; to try writing in Hebrew with quill pens; and a taste
of Jewish food.



Tuesday 17th - Northamptonshire Theological Society
The Northamptonshire Theological Society were
pleased to open their scheduled meeting to a multi faith audience for inter
faith week. Rev. Dr. Alan Spence gave a lecture on the historical background
to understandings of atonement and justification.The lecture was followed by
a lively time of questions and answers before moving from the Abbey Centre Chapel
to The Abbey Centre for light refreshments and further conversations.

Monday 16th - Wednesday 18th - Children's Art Exhibition
A Children's art Exhibition Organised by Lewis
Houston (Inter Faith Development Worker for NIFF) was held at The Guildhall.
Visitors included the Mayor of Northampton, Councillor, Michael Hill and Cllr.
Joan Kirkbride Deputy Leader of the Northamptonshire Council and Policy &
Partnerships portfolio holder. The exhibition was formally closed with a special
reception including speeches by Ted Hale (NIFF Secretary), Patricia Stoat (Chief
Executive of the Faiths Forum for the East Midlands), and Deidre Fenwick (High
Sheriff of Northamptonshire). To see examples of the Children's art work go

Thursday 19th - A Quaker Evening on Peace
The event for the fifth day of Inter Faith week
was hosted by Northampton Quakers at their Meeting House. As well as an exhibition
showing the history of Quaker involvement in working for peace, there were some
short talks, and then small groups designed to help those presentr to listen
to, and learn from one another. In keeping with the Quaker tradition there were
also some times for quiet reflection.





Friday 20th - An evening with the Baha'i
The event for the fifth day of Inter Faith week
was hosted by members of the Baha'i faith. With music, stories, slids and fine
food we celebrated the Birthday of Baha'u'llah the founding prophet of the Baha'i
faith



Saturday 21st - The trip to London
The event for the seventh day of Inter Faith week
was a trip to London. We visited the Mevlana Mosque and Dialogue centre, and
the Wisdom Primary and Secondary School. The event was arranged jointly by NIFF
and The Spring Education Society. We enjoyed splendid hospitality, and learned
a great deal from various presentations and speakers. The day concluded with
the singing of some traditional Turkish songs on the way home.
